Jerry Cummins is well respected throughout Southeast Washington, at the state level and even nationally for his work on transportation and veteran issues.
Jerry is a charter member of the U.S. Highway 12 Coalition, chairman of the Southeast Washington Regional Transportation and Planning Organization and a 10-year member of the Walla Walla-Benton-Franklin County Good Roads Association.
In 2003, Jerry stepped up when the VA CARES Commission tried to shut down the local VA hospital and helped organize the Community Task Force with the specific mission of keeping the VA Medical Center in Walla Walla.
Since then, he has also championed efforts to obtain $33 million from the federal government and state of Washington to build a 100-bed long-term care facility on the VA property in Walla Walla. Currently, Jerry is lobbying for the last $9 million of state construction funds to make the long-term care facility a reality.
Walla Walla needs to retain Jerry Cummins as a conservative voice representing veterans interests and economic development in our region. This is not a time to vote change strictly for change sake.
We have a person with proven leadership -- retain Jerry Cummins to help finish what has been started.
