LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - WWII veteran has fond memories of Walla Walla

Just thought you would like to know how I remember Walla Walla from my stay in 1942.

I recently saw Walla Walla printed on a blanket sitting on a footstool in my TV room, which brought back many memories. On one visit to see my daughter who lives and works in Pasco, we visited Walla Walla to see the monument erected for the 91st Bomb Group 322nd Squadron of the U.S. Air Corps of World War II.

I was stationed for a time training in Walla Walla and remember the people as friendly and welcoming to the young soldiers far from home. The tree-lined streets and beautiful homes were a warm, fond memory.

I just wanted to share these thoughts from a long-ago veteran now residing at the age of 94 in my home town of San Francisco.
