WALLA WALLA - Jordan Rodriguez recorded a hat trick Saturday as two-time defending NWAACC champion Walla Walla Community College celebrated Sophomore Day with a 12-1 victory over Wenatchee Valley in an Eastern Region women's soccer contest at Warrior Field.
The Warriors, top-ranked in the latest NWAACC poll, concluded their regular season with a perfect 15-0 mark in league, the program's ninth straight East title, and will take a mark of 19-0-1 overall into NWAACC quarterfinal action next weekend.
WWCC's Kaylie Winston got the scoring started with her NWAACC-best 26th goal of the season just five minutes into the match, assisted by Ali Skogrand, and set up Shae Yuma at the 21-minute mark.
Kara Churchman made it 3-0 in the 24th minute, and Rodriguez used a Churchman pass in the 37th minute to give the Warriors a 4-0 lead going into halftime.
Marie Monasterio upped the WWCC lead to 5-0 in the 46th minute with help from a Jordan Rodriguez assist. Rodriguez tallied in the next minute to increase the lead to 6-0.
Kat Knowlton made it 7-0 another minute after that.
Monasterio struck again in the 53rd minute, Gabi Kurz found the net in the 62nd minute, and Rodriguez completed her hat trick at the 66-minute mark, assisted by Emily Jordan.
Jordan and Meghan Sorensen added unassisted goals in the 71st and 74th minutes, respectively, to complete the Warriors' scoring for the day.
Saturday's match was the last regular-season home encounter for WWCC sophomores Winston, Yuma, Skogrand, Churchman, Heather Krebsbach, Sami Hansen, and Courtney Hancock.
