WALLA WALLA -- An investigation into possible financial improprieties at the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office remains unresolved.
Now more than two years old, the investigation began in October 2009 when then-Sheriff Mike Humphreys requested the Washington State Patrol and state Auditor's Office look into the matter.
Officials have said the investigation has focused on an individual, but requests for further information have been denied on the grounds the matter is still under investigation.
Along with the WSP and Auditor's Office, the FBI's Spokane Field Office also became involved earlier this year.
Both the WSP and Auditor's Office have deferred comment on the matter to the FBI.
FBI Supervising Senior Agent Frank Harrill said Friday he "cannot release anything publicly on this ongoing matter."
