Incumbents see split in Columbia County races

Columbia County Public Hospital board will see one new face and one more familiar when newly elected board members take the oath of office.

Retired nurse Colleen Sproul soundly routed incumbent Blaine Bickelhaupt, who has been on the board since 2005, in a race for board position 2. Bickelhaupt received 678 votes, or 39 percent, to Sproul's 1,062, or 67 percent.

Challenger Jeff Monyak did not fare as well against incumbent Jack Otterson for Hospital board position 5. Monyak received 512 votes, or 32 percent to Otterson's 1,089 or 68 percent.

In the only other contested race in Columbia County, incumbent Starbuck School board member Carol Wildman will retain her position 5 seat. Wildman received 58 votes, or 69 percent, to challenger Tony Woolridge's 26, or 31 percent.
