Officials: Fraudulent charges pile up on stolen fuel card

MILTON-FREEWATER - Umatilla County Sheriff's deputies are investigating $30,200 in fraudulent charges on a fuel card stolen from Bob Humbert and Sons, a Milton-Freewater company involved in construction and waste disposal services.

Charges were reported at Pendleton Grain Growers in Hermiston on Tuesday. The alleged theft occurred last month, according to Sgt. Tawin Compton of the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office. Hermiston Police and Morrow County Sheriff's Office are assisting with the investigation.

"We're going to do what we can to investigate this case," Compton said. "We do have some possible suspects."

Compton said he could not release further information as the case is ongoing.
