Pomeroy voters showed their overwhelming preference for Alesia Ruchert to fill the City Council position 5 2-year unexpired term left vacant when G. Paul Miller filed to run for mayor.
Ruchert received 442 votes, or 85 percent of those cast. Her opponent, Kim Gordon, received 78 votes, or 15 percent.
In other races, Fire District 1 commissioner position 3 incumbent Ed Bishop received 458 votes, or 54 percent to challenger Derek J. Shawley's 384, or 46 percent.
A race for Garfield County Public Hospital District commissioner position 4 shows Ray Hoffman with a 10-vote lead over Steven Lytle. Hoffman has 383 votes, or 51 percent, to Lytle's 373 votes, or 49 percent.
When the position was left vacant by the resignation of Pat Richardson, the hospital board appointed Hoffman to fill the position until the general election.
Votes will be counted again Friday by 4 p.m. There were 25 uncounted ballots Tuesday night.
Garfield County again leads the state in voter turnout, with 61 percent. Of the 1,492 registered voters, 917 ballots were counted Tuesday.
