The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 992 is preparing for its annual Veterans Day traditions.
Friday begins with a free breakfast for all veterans, 7-9 a.m. at the VFW building, 102 N. Colville St.
The Main Street parade begins at 11 a.m., at the Walla Walla County Courthouse and going to Palouse Street. Entrants must be in place by 10:30 a.m., and Main Street will be blocked to all other traffic beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the parade ends.
This year's parade Grand Marshal will be retired Lt. Col. Larry Adams, a Vietnam veteran and helicopter pilot who spent his military career in the U.S. Marine Corps. Also featured is the 133rd U.S. Army Band of the Washington Army National Guard.
A free lunch for veterans follows the parade, again at Post 992, where the band will continue to play throughout the day. Children participating in the parade will be served lunch at the Walla Walla Elks Lodge No. 287, 351 E. Rose St.
A dinner at the VFW will end the day for the post. Ticket price and time was unavailable at press time. For more information call 525-1310 or 509-386-3564.
