WALLA WALLA -- At its monthly board meeting this week, the Walla Walla County Conservation District set the date for its annual meeting and election and chose Marguerite Daltoso as election supervisor.
The meeting and election will be Jan. 26 in the Blue Mountain Community Room at the Walla Walla Regional Airport; polls will be open from 8 a.m.-noon.
The election will be for the district's volunteer supervisor. To be eligible, a candidate must be a registered voter who lives in the conservation district boundaries and is a farm owner or operator. Todd Kimball holds the position and is seeking another term. The Board is directed by five unpaid Supervisors who identify local conservation needs, set goals and implement plans to protect soil, water, wildlife and other renewable natural resources.
Candidate information forms are available at 325 N. 13th Ave. The filing deadline is Dec. 29.
For further information call Daltoso at 522-6340, ext. 101.
