July 20, 1930 - Nov. 9, 2011
Evelyn Mae Hufford of Walla Walla passed away at Park Manor on November 9, 2011 at the age of 81
She was born July 20, 1930 to Lonnie David Keen and Beaetta Margariet (Tate) Keen in Walla Walla where she remained until her passing. Evelyn was one of seven children growing up in Walla Walla where she graduated from Wa-Hi in 1951. She married Norman Richard Hufford, also of Walla Walla, in 1951. Their first child, David Hufford was born in 1953 and a daughter Tracy Lynn (Bray) was born in 1956. Evelyn overcame many obstacles throughout her life-the death of her beloved daughter Tracy Lynn Bray in 1986 just a few years after the loss of a grand daughter Kammie Bray and a divorce late in life.
Evelyn was a homemaker and worked at Newberrys for several years. She enjoyed her family and friends and a good game of bingo. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a source of joy in her later years. The great grandchildren looked forward to Easter and finding those special eggs that held $5 from Great-grandma. Grandma Evelyn remembered their birthdays and holidays in special ways. Penny, her calico cat, was great company and a source of comfort in her later years.
Evelyn is survived by her son David his spouse Dianne Hufford, siblings Beth Pippin, Don Keen Barbara Miller; four grandsons - Gabe Nick Bray, Devin Grigg, and John Hufford, and nine great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents and siblings- Virginia, Bonnie, and Mildred.
A private graveside service will be held Monday, November 14th at Blue Mt Memorial Gardens in College Place. Herring-Groseclose is in charge of the service. Memorials may be made to the Christian Aid Center-Homeless Shelter in care of Herring-Groseclose Funeral Home.
