Pontarolo only Devil on all-CCBN first team


WALLA WALLA - Wa-Hi junior Paige Pontarolo is the Blue Devils' lone representative on the all-Big Nine Conference soccer first team.

Pontarolo, a midfielder, was one of 14 players selected to the first team.

Also named are seniors Kelsie Grant, Kimberley Bakker and Abigall Stones, all of Moses Lake, along with Allison Boyton, Jill Cherry and Shelby Long of Richland, and Lizzie Blanchard of Eisenhower; juniors Lexi Miller of Chiawana, Kristen Calmus of Richland and Mackenna Morton of Davis; and sophomores Katherine Virden and Andes Archibald of Richland and Caylah Lunning of Moses Lake.

The Pirates' Morton, a midfielder, and the Chiefs' Lunning, a forward, were selected the Big Nine's co-players of the year. Ricardo Char of Moses was tabbed coach of the year.

Three other Blue Devils were also honored.

Bridget Lyons, a senior forward, was named to the all-Big Nine second team; Maggie Callan, a sophomore midfielder, was likewise a second-team selection; and sophomore Allysyn Greene, a junior earned honorable mention as a defender.
