Ellen M. Faber, 84, passed away November 9, 2011 at Walla Walla General Hospital. Ellen was a long-time resident of Milton-Freewater, OR but had recently moved to Pioneer House in Walla Walla, WA.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the Mountain View Cemetery.
Cremation service was provided by Mountain View- Colonial DeWitt. Memorials may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.

The youngest of five children, Ellen was born on March 6, 1927 in Torrington, WY, to James and Emma Palmer. Her mother later divorced James and married Carl Meek. The family then moved to Oregon in 1931. Emma and Carl subsequently had three more children. Ellen graduated from Wallowa High School in 1944. She then married Alvin J. Wahl on January 3, 1945. They had three children. Ellen and Alvin divorced in 1962. She moved to California and married Clarence Faber October 1, 1966. They owned and operated California Carports before moving to Oregon in 1980.

Ellen then worked for Smith Frozen Foods from which she retired in about 1992 so the couple could travel. She soon became bored and went back to work for Pine Creek Credit Union for several years. She then became a volunteer at the Milton-Freewater Public Library which turned into a part-time job. She had to retire in 2004 due to her health. Ellen loved life and people and enjoyed having good times with family and friends. She tried to live life to its fullest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include three sisters - Alda Postlewait of Walla Walla, WA, Anna Miller of Portland, OR, and Vesta Poteete of Milton- Freewater; her four children - Alice Tellefson of Milton-Freewater, Robert Wahl of Fossil, OR , Stephen Wahl of Vancouver, WA, and Kevin Faber of John Day, OR; three step-children - Mary Skiles, John Faber, and David Faber, all of California. She also is survived by four grandchildren - Matthew Tellefson of Milton-Freewater, OR, Myles Tellefson of Warden, WA, Amy Wahl Nelson of Custer, WA, and Scott Wahl of Adams, OR and five step-grandchildren all of California - fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
