Herb Slater, 85 of 534 Boyer Ave. passed away Nov. 6, 2011, at his home. Private inurnmet services were held at the Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the Walla Walla Community Hospice or to the donors choice through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St, Milton-Freewater, OR.
Herb was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Lindsey, Ontario, Canada. During World War II he served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1947. He married Dolores Canziani in Walla Walla on Sept. 2, 1950. Herb worked as a appliance technician in the Walla Walla Valley for many years.
He is survived by his wife; son, Dennis Slater of Walla Walla; brother, John Slater of Long Beach, Calif.; and his sister, Betty Asplund of Renton, Wash. He was preceded in death by a son, David Slater in 1975; and two brothers, Glenn and Harold "Sandy" Slater.xx
