Arlene Joan Kessler of Milton-Freewater passed away Nov. 20, 2011, at Regency at the Park in College Place at the age of 80 years. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at 10 a.m., at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater. Private interment will be in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vincent Water Company, Citizens TV or the M-F Junior Show through the funeral home.

Mrs. Kessler was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Walla Walla, the daughter of Arnold H. and Marie Gradwohl Schubert. She grew up on the family ranch, south of Umapine and attended school and graduated from Umapine School. On Dec. 19, 1948, she married Ervin Pete Kessler in Milton-Freewater. They lived in Umapine, where she and Ervin raised four kids, Vicki Robbins, Susan Moore, Randy Kessler and Jeannie Kibler. She was a homemaker and farm wife who supported their children and grandchildren at many sporting events and cattle shows all over the Northwest. She and her husband enjoyed their trips to Reno in their earlier years and more recently to Wildhorse Casino. They also enjoyed numerous family trips to Seaside, Ore., and to Jubilee Lake in the Blue Mountains. Arlene was also active in the Umapine Home Extension, Umatilla County Elections, Hudson Bay Grange and Neighborhood Pinochle Club.

She is survived by a son, Randy Kessler of Milton-Freewater; three daughters, Vicki Robbins and Susan Moore of Milton-Freewater, Jeannie Kibler of Waitsburg; her mother-in-law, Martha Kessler of Milton-Freewater; a brother, Bub Schubert of Milton-Freewater; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kessler was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; parents, Arnold and Marie Schubert; and a daughter-in-law, Dawn Kessler.
