Waitsburg to celebrate a Hometown Christmas with a variety of activities


WAITSBURG - Hometown Christmas here will begin Dec. 3 with Turkey Bingo at 4 p.m. in Ye Olde Towne Hall. The bingo continues until all the turkey and prizes are gone.

On Dec. 4, craft vendors will be at the Olde Towne Hall from noon until 3:30 p.m. Live Christmas music by the Waitsburg School music department will fill the air from 1 to 3:15 p.m.

Among dignitaries expected is Santa Claus, who will be at the hall at 1:30 p.m. Santa will have bags of treats to give away prepared by members of the local grange. He will pose for photos for those with their own cameras.

Drawings for gifts and prizes donated by local area businesses begin at 3:30 p.m.

Among the prizes are gift certificates worth $75, $50 and $15 good for purchases at any Waitsburg merchant, donated by the Commercial Club.

Local and area merchants donated the prizes. Entrants must be present to win drawings.

Entries for drawings are distributed at Waitsburg merchants, with an entry given for each $5 worth of merchandise purchased.

Rainbow Girls will serve coffee and cookies during the afternoon.

The lighted parade begins at the north end of Main Street at 5 p.m. Anyone interested in being in the parade should call Ruth Peterson, 337-8849.

A chili feed sponsored by the Commercial Club will be held at 5:30 at Towne Hall.
