Lydia Fanciullo, 88, formerly of Walla Walla, WA, died
peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Crescent Health
Care in Yakima, WA. Lydia was born on December 10, 1922
to John and Otilia Kison in Lind, WA.
Lydia moved to Walla Walla with her family in the mid
20s. While attending Walla Walla High School, she met a
dashing Italian driving a ‘32 Ford Coupe. Nels Fanciullo and
Lydia were married on January 30, 1940 at St. Francis Catholic
Church in Walla Walla.
She worked at numerous jobs including Bird's Eye Frozen
Foods, Drumheller Hardware, Newberry's, The Bon Marche
and Tallman's Drug Store. Mom enjoyed working with people
and made many friends, especially with the numerous camping
adventures she and dad enjoyed. Lydia was also a lifelong
member of St. Francis Church in Walla Walla.
Lydia is survived by her son Stephen and wife Janet
Fanciullo, her daughter Peggy and husband Burt Van Dyck,
7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and one brother,
Walter Kison. She was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband Nels Fanciullo, son Nels Fanciullo Jr. and daughter
Pamela Joe Mason; sisters Alma Graham and Heidi Dugger;
brothers Daniel Kison and Richard Kison, and step-brothers
Ernest, Julius, and Fritz Kison.
A memorial service will be held in the spring in Walla Walla.
An announcement will be in the newspaper closer to the
time of the service. Arrangements are under the
