Wesley United Methodist plans rummage, bake sale

Eastgate Missionary Baptist Church to ordain pastor

WALLA WALLA - Eastgate Missionary Baptist Church, 1937 Portland Ave., will ordain the Rev. Todd Blevins at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Blevins was born in Walla Walla and grew up in the Wenatchee area. He served as a police officer in Pasco, and then had his own construction business.

After an injury in a truck accident, he returned to Walla Walla, where he is a building inspector and the Walla Walla County marshal.

Blevins and his wife, Staci, have two children, Trevalian, 17, and Shaya, 13.

CROP Hunger Walk fundraiser to take place Oct. 9

WALLA WALLA - The CROP Hunger Walk will be 2 p.m. Oct. 9. It starts and ends at the Deitrich Dome at Walla Walla Community College, 500 Tausick Way. Free registration is 1-1:45 p.m. Walks include 1/2-, 3- and 5-mile routes. Twenty-five percent of funds raised go to local food banks, the rest for worldwide hunger. Christian Women's Connection lunch slated

PATAHA - October's Christian Women's Connection lunch will take place at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 12 at the Pataha Flour Mill. Cost is $10.

Stephanie Carmichael of Bend, Ore., will speak on healing a broken heart. Retired Garfield County Sheriff Larry Bowles of Pomeroy will sing and Zonia Dedloff will teach how to recycle for fun.
