COLTON - The Pomeroy Pirates fell to Colton Tuesday.
The Pirates won set one 25-23 before losing the final three sets 21-25, 10-25 and 25-22.
Pomeroy coach Bruce Crossfield said Colton was stiff competition.
"Colton's only got one league loss and that was a close one to Tekoa-Oakesdale," Crossfield said. "They're at the top of the league.
"We continued to improve, we made some strides forward," Crossfield said. "They got a hot server in game three, but other than that we stood toe to toe with them. I was encouraged that we went on their court and played as well as we did."
Delaney Monahan led the Pirates with 10 kills on the night. HayLee Koller chipped in 25 digs and three aces. McKenzie Uto had 14 digs, Savannah Ruark had 18 blocks and Samantha Smith was 17-of-17 from the service stripe.
The loss puts Pomeroy at 3-4 in Southeast 1B play and 9-7 overall.
The Pirates travel to Rosalia at 6 p.m. Thursday.
