Label snafu prompts recall

A mixup of chicken and fish has prompted a recall of frozen meals.

Nestl Prepared Foods Company, a section of Nestl USA, has started a voluntary recall of some packages of "LEAN CUISINE Dinnertime Selects Chicken Fettuccini" with the UPC code 13800-14880.

The affected product is marked with a production code of 1253595911G and has a "best before" date of October 2012, the company said in a press release. A small quantity -- less than 200 packages-- of "LEAN CUISINE Dinnertime Selects Lemon Garlic Shrimp" product was inadvertently placed into packaging for the chicken fettuccini dinners and possibly shipped to grocers in Alaska, Florida, Idaho, Oregon and Washington state.

Four consumers who purchased the mislabeled product alerted Nestl?© to this issue and no illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported.

Because shrimp is considered an allergen, the company is strongly advising consumers who are allergic to shellfish and who have purchased the recalled product not to consume it to avoid the possibility of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.

Consumers can contact the company for a full refund by calling 800-542-6935.
