POMEROY - Sisters Delaney and Mackenzie Monahan along with Kayla Morgan combined for 27 kills here Tuesday night as Pomeroy toppled Lacrosse-Washtucna 25-14, 23-25, 25-8, 25-11 in a Southeast 1B District volleyball match.
Delaney Monahan, a senior, led the way with 10 kills while her sister, sophomore Mackenzie, followed with nine. Morgan, also a senior, added eight.
The victory upped Pomeroy's league record to 5-4. The Pirates take an 11-7 record overall into a Thursday home match against Garfield-Palouse.
HayLee Koller led the Pirates with 23 assists and eight serving aces. McKenize Uto contributed a team-high 12 digs, Savannah Ruark added five blocks and Samantha Smith was 20-for-20 from the service line.
Pomeroy coach Bruce Crossfield also had praise for Amanda Bingman's play off the bench.
"She was able to plug holes for us at a couple of positions," Crossfield said. "Being able to come in and play where we need her, that was nice to have."
The Pirates are still in contention for the postseason after overcoming the loss of senior star middle hitter Kindsey Bott, who suffered a season-ending knee injury before the first game.
"Every team has its own story as the season evolves," Crossfield said. "Kindsey was a two-time all-leaguer who will probably be able to play somewhere at the next level, and we had everything pretty well set before she was injured.
"But we have had to make some changes, and we are making progress."
