Walk a Mile in Her Shoes set for Wednesday in Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA -- It's time for men to step up, once again, in high heels, makeup and dresses for the truly daring to support the YWCA of Walla Walla in remembering victims of domestic and sexual violence.

On Wednesday, Walla Walla will commemorate the 10th international anniversary of Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, created in 2001 as a way to raise awareness for men of what women can face.

Beginning at 11 a.m., participants can sign up at Heritage Park on Main Street for a noon march down Main Street to the Walla Walla County Courthouse.

At 6 p.m. a candlelight vigil will be at Land Title Plaza to remember victims of domestic violence. In Washington state there have been 47 fatalities since 2008, according to YWCA officials.

The events are free and open to all.
