Missionary women draw at Puget Sound

TACOMA - Whitman took a 1-0 lead to intermission Saturday in Northwest League women's soccer action, but Puget Sound bounced back with a second half goal to earn a 1-1 draw.

Whitman snapped the Loggers (9-2-1, 7-1-1 NWC) scoreless streak of over 600 minutes with a goal just 10 seconds before halftime. Amy Hasson scored in the 45th minute off of a Missionaries free kick.

The Loggers got a second half goal from Christine Isabella to tie 1-1. The tie saw the Loggers scoreless streak and six-match win streak snapped.

In the 74th minute, Isabella scored an unassisted goal for the equalizer and both teams were held off the scoreboard the rest of the way.

The Loggers Kara Merfeld and Whitman's Emily Davis posted identical stats as both had saves and one goal against in 110 minutes. Whitman's goal was the first scored on Merfled this year.

Whitman stayed in Tacoma and plays Pacific Lutheran today at noon.
