Two area women were hospitalized today following a wreck in Benton County.
Ruby A. Weaver, 75, of Walla Walla was driving a 2005 Ford eastbound on U.S. Highway 12 at about 10 a.m. when she fell asleep
at the wheel and left the roadway, according to Washington State Patrol officials.
Weaver over-corrected, causing the vehicle to roll, coming to rest on the eastbound shoulder of the road. She was transported to
Kadlec Medical Center in Tri-Cities.
Her passenger, Bernita Mae Hickey, 75, of Pendleton, Ore., was also injured and taken to Kadlec.
Both women were wearing seat belts, according to the report. The crash is under investigation.
