Barbara O. Hayes, 91, of Meridian, Ida., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at a local care center. Barbara was born on Dec. 29, 1919, in Starbuck, to Nicola and Hazel (McCool) Campanelli. Barbara attended grade school at Green Park Elementary in Walla Walla, and latermarried Floyd Hayesat Dayton. They lived in Walla Walla until the Second World Warthen moved to Seattle to work at Boeing where she worked as Rosie the riveter on B-29s. After thewar ended they moved back to Walla Walla with their two children, Gloria Jean and Paul Dean Hayes. Barbara worked at many of the restaurants as a waitress and enjoyed employment with the MarcusWhitman Hotel for many years. She was a member of the First Assembly ofGod Church, taught Sunday school, and greeted people with a friendly smile. She loved to bowl, sew, knit, crochet, crafts, but most of all she loved to cook and made foodattractive and delicious. She was a member of the Italian Heritage Association and especially loved the Columbus Day celebrations. After Floyd and Paul passed away she moved to Meridian, to be near her daughter Gloria and husband Lee Sells and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Sells and husband Lee; grandchildren, David Page and wife Jacquie, Paula Fischer and husband Randy, Stuart Sells and wife Sandra, Leslie Hoppins and husband Ron, Steven Sells and wife Annie, Charles Page and wife Lisa, Valerie Roberts and husband David; 15great-grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren; cousins, Wild Bill McCool, LetaWatson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S. 2nd St, Walla Walla, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011.
