Link probed between wreck, death

David Aycock of Walla Walla died Thursday, about a half-day after a traffic crash.

WALLA WALLA -- The coroner's office is investigating the death of a Walla Walla man who died Thursday afternoon, approximately half a day after he had been in a traffic crash.

According to the coroner's office, David Aycock, 38, of South Third Avenue was taken from his home to Walla Walla General Hospital at 1:28 p.m., where he was pronounced dead 20 minutes later by emergency room personnel.

It was unclear if Aycock's death was related to a crash Wednesday evening; a forensic pathologist will perform an autopsy in the next couple of days, Coroner Richard Greenwood said.

Aycock was a correctional officer at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, and was married with three children, ages 15 months to 6, according to the coroner's report.
