WENATCHEE - Walla Walla Community College's men's soccer team overcame an early Wenatchee Valley goal to post a 2-1 NWAACC East Region victory here Saturday.

Wenatchee's Marco Martinez took a pass from Mauricio Lopez and scored in the second minute.

The Warriors' Jonathan Rodriguez evened the score in the 22nd minute, and WWCC's Mikey Luhrs took a ball from Rodriguez for what turned out to be the winning goal in the 64th minute.

"We started the match very poorly and have to fix the issue," WWCC coach Chad Bodnar said. "I was proud of the boys to come back, though, from a goal down and in a tough place and get the victory. It has been a tough week with three road games, but we finished up 2-1 and are excited to head home to finish up the regular season."

The victory leaves the Warrior men alone atop the East Region with a record of 11-2-1 with three games remaining, and also qualifies WWCC for the NWAACC playoffs.

The Warrior men host Columbia Basin at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
