Margaret V. Key of Milton-Freewater passed away Oct. 20, 2011, at her home at the age of 88 years. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home. Concluding services and interment will be in the Weston Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Aid Center or Make-A-Wish Foundation through the funeral home.
Mrs. Key was born April 15, 1923, in Milton, Ore., the daughter of Philip and Esther Hankins Meyer. She grew up and attended school in Milton-Freewater, graduating from McLoughlin Union High School. After her graduation she attended business college in Ellensburg. She then returned to Milton-Freewater, where she went to work for Preston Schaeffer Flour Mill as a bookkeeper. On Nov. 26, 1949, she married
Darrell Key in Milton-Freewater. She continued working for another two years at the flour mill's office in Walla Walla. Mrs. Key then became a mother and homemaker, raising her family. She enjoyed canning, making jams, gardening and making candy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Democratic Women.
Mrs. Key is survived by her husband, Darrell Key at the home; a daughter, Sally (Phil) Davis of Milton-Freewater; three sons, Allen (Sky) Key, Glenn Key, Gordon (Jamie Williams) Key all of Milton-Freewater; grandchildren, Corey Davis, Lacee Key, Brady Hawes,
Bridgett Hawes, Kyler Key, Scott Key, Michael Key, Logan Key all of Milton-Freewater, and Randy (Shawna) Key of Vancouver, Wash.; a close family friend, Tim Penland of Milton-Freewater; seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
