LA GRANDE - Mac-Hi's girls soccer team lost to La Grande Tuesday, falling to the Tigers 4-1 after two first-half goals put the Pioneers in a 2-0 hole.

The Pioneers' Mica Epifiano scored Mac-Hi's only goal in the second half.

"We picked up the pace after that goal, but La Grande had great players and kept the pressure on us," Mac-Hi coach Martin Martinez said.

Veronica Garcia, a forward, was injured with about five minutes left to play and the Pioneers weren't able to put pressure on net with her absence.

Martinez said three of the goals the Pioneers allowed were goalie errors and that one was just a good shot.

The loss drops Mac-Hi to 3-3-2 in Greater Oregon League play and 3-6-2 overall.

The Pioneers host Ontario Saturday at 1 p.m. A win would move the Pioneers from third to second in the GOL.
