Touchet says goodbye to seniors, falls to league-leading Tekoa-Oakesdale


TOUCHET - Touchet's volleyball team bid farewell to its seniors with a three-set Southeast 1B volleyball loss to Tekoa-Oakesale, 15-10, 25-18, 25-21.

Nicole Brown and Veronica Solis were honored in their final home match of their prep careers.

"They have inspired this team all year through their hustle plays and commitment," Touchet coach April Miller said.

Harlie Schaeffer had 11 assists and four aces for the Indians, Brown came up with six digs, and Shelby Gould, Kristen Warner and Josie Christopher each had one stuff. Warner and Christopher also had five kills.

"Tekoa-Oakesdale is outstanding," Miller said of the SE1B's top team. "They don't allow us to cheat on defense whatsoever, and truly challenged us to be better.

"We are playig with such heart this last couple of weeks, and it's been fun to see things start to come together for the girls," she said. "We have worked hard this yar and I am proud of our team's determination in the face of our record. There's no question that we are a stronger and better team than when we started."

Touchet, now 0-14, plays a final non-league match at Liberty Christian on Thursday.
