Waitsburg-Prescott overwhelms Liberty Christian in three sets

WAITSBURG - Waitsburg-Prescott overwhelmed visiting Liberty Christian Tuesday, beating the Patriots 25-9, 25-10 and 25-20 on senior night.

Because it was senior night, W-P coach Angie Potts started only seniors in the first set.

"We just had complete control of the first two games," Potts said. "We had a couple of girls who didn't play much all year and they did really well, You couldn't tell they hadn't played very much."

In the second set, Potts played only underclassmen, and they didn't miss a beat, Potts said.

W-P only had 11 unforced errors on the night, nine of which came in the final set.

Potts said W-P dug a hole with those errors in the third set, but was able to fight and come back.

The win moves W-P to 7-5 in Southeast 2B play.

W-P plays at Dayton Saturday in the first round of District 9 tournament play at 6 p.m.
