The 2011 Marcus Whitman Fall Bridal Fair will hold forth from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Marcus Whitman Hotel & Conference Center.

The sale of special books started promptly today at 1 p.m., sponsored by Friends of the Walla Walla Public Library.
Proceeds from the Books amp; Baubles sale of autographed books from famous authors, chocolate, handmade gifts and more will benefit programs the library offers to the community.
Among those donated tomes is one by signed by American writer Tom Robbins. Interim director Beth Hudson passed along a short, short story Tom included with the book, which goes like this:
Gemini Rising: "The world's only two-headed dog is barking at the moon tonight in Walla Walla."
It continues as the dog's owner Jim Jim and two-timing second wife LuLu settled in Walla Walla after Jim Jim contracted beri beri in Pago Pago and in Bora Bora. He doubled over from pain caused by the disease. He took in the healing waters at Baden Baden. But only after a doctor in Walla Walla prescribed two aspirin and to call him in the morning did Jim Jim fully recover from the malady.
"Now he's content to watch his dog, Boutros Boutros-Collie, woof woof at the moon in Walla Walla."

The library serves area residents of all ages with recreational and educational programs and materials such as print, audio, and downloadable books, magazines, DVDs, music CDs and online research databases, according to the Friends' Facebook information.
