She was born April 23, 1931, to Robert and Ruth Steigers in Juliaetta.

She was married to Alfred (Sonny) Hammond Sept. 5, 1950, and spent her life loving and raising her children. They had a son, Randy and wife Coni Hammond of Clarkston, and a daughter, Laura and husband Hank Torres of Sunnyside, Wash. She also had the privilege to help raise two more daughters that became part of her life and family. Upon remarrying Sonny on March 21, 1975, she was blessed with two more daughters, Linda and husband Ron Houilhand of Tacoma and Bonnie Hammond of Tacoma.; along with two more sons, Lou Hammond of Tacoma, and Bobby and wife Bridgette Hammond of Joseph, Ore. Also surviving Alma are seven wonderful grandchildren; four very special great-grandchildren with another on the way. Alma's greatest joy in life was her family.

Outspoken, mischievous, she had a great sense of humor, was strong minded and lovable. Our love for her will last forever.

A memorial will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Starbuck (Wash.) Community Church.
