Extra security laid on for Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days

WALLA WALLA -- The heat is on at this year's Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days.

As they have done for the past four years, fair organizers have coordinated with law enforcement agencies to provide a "high profile" presence of police and security on the fairgrounds, said Cory Hewitt, fair manager.

"Fairgoers will see representation from the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office; Walla Walla Police Department; the Department of Corrections (community corrections officers); Walla Walla County Juvenile Justice Center (probation officers); Walla Walla County Dispatch; College Place Police Department, Umatilla County Sheriff's Office, Benton County Sheriff Office, state Department of Fish and Wildlife and Search and Rescue," Hewitt said in a release.

In addition, undercover officers, Starplex Security agency and fair event staff will also assist with security matters, she said.
