Suspect in early morning homicide jailed

Police took Angela Effinger into custody this morning in connection with the stabbing death of Audrey Brewer.


WALLA WALLA - A mother of four is in the Walla Walla County Jail today after being arrested for investigation of first-degree murder, police said this morning.

The Walla Walla Police Department report officers were sent to the Blue Mountain Mall parking lot at about 1:17 a.m. this morning to find a woman who had been stabbed during a fight.

The woman, identified as Audrey Brewer, 18, of Walla Walla, died a short time later at Providence St. Mary Medical Center from a single stab wound, police said.

Witnesses at the scene identified the suspect as Angela D. Effinger,29, of 320 N. Seventh Ave. Effinger was contacted by police at her apartment a few minutes later and taken into custody. During an interview, she admitted to being involved in a fight with Brewer, said Tim Bennett, police spokesman.

The investigation is continuing and a search warrant was served this morning on Effinger's apartment, he added.
