UMATILLA - Mac-Hi's volleyball team lost its opener in straight sets to Umatilla Tuesday.
The Pioneers fell 25-21, 25-23, 26-24.
Though a loss, all the sets were close.
"It was a really, really good first game," said second-year Mac-Hi coach Kaila Rodighiero. "We've just got a couple of kinks we need to work out. That's what the first games are for."
Megan Reed led the Pioneers at the serving line, going 12-for-12. Avery Wells was 14-for-16, and Haley Freske had five kills and five blocks for the team.
