WALLA WALLA -- A local man pleaded innocent Tuesday afternoon in Superior Court to raping a female acquaintance at a local residence last month.

Donald R. Lackey Jr., 44, is set for trial Oct. 24 on the charge of second-degree rape.

He is accused of pulling the back of the woman's hair, dragging her into a bedroom, pushing her face down onto the bed and raping her about 6 p.m. on Aug. 24.

She later was taken to Walla Walla General Hospital, where medical personnel saw evidence of sexual assault, according to a police report filed in court.

Lackey was located downtown that evening and arrested. In an interview with police, he reportedly claimed he and the woman had engaged in consensual sex.

Lackey is incarcerated in the County Jail. Bail has been set at $75,000.
