Judy Ann Castoldi Needles, returned to heaven on Sept. 2, 2011. Judy was born May 6, 1948, in Walla Walla to Frank S. and Ruby Walker Castoldi. Growing up, Judy learned to work on her father's Walla Walla Sweet Onion farm. Judy graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1966. She married Charles A. Needles on Sept. 1, 1979, in Walla Walla at Pioneer Park. Later, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Seattle Temple.

Judy co-managed Rock Hill department store at Payless, then continued to work for Payless. She was also employed at Bi-Mart and helped co-manage The Big Twist. Judy has been active in politics and served twice as president of the Walla Walla Republican Women and served one term as president of the Washington State Republican Women. Her love and commitment to the Republican Party took her several times to Washington D.C., eventually meeting former first lady Laura Bush.

Her greatest love was for the Savior and serving in his church, teaching primarily young women, Relief Society and working in the Portland Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband.

Judy enjoyed decorating for all holidays. She loved her dog, Fetch. Judy was a fiery Irish/Italian. She put that fire to work for the good of the community. She was the best organizer for any event. She was always happy, uplifting and loved helping others. She touched the lives of many in our community working with the Chamber of Commerce on several events, the Balloon Stampede and open exhibits at the fair.

Judy is survived by her husband, Chuck.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1821 S. 2nd Ave., Walla Walla. Followed by the burial at the Mountain View Cemetery. Lunch will be provided upon completion of service.

A memorial fund has been set up in the name of Judy Needles at Banner Bank, through Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St. Walla Walla, WA.
