BMAC official part of panel eyeing homelessness solutions

WALLA WALLA -- Kathy Covey of Blue Mountain Action Council recently participated in a 20-member national panel honing work force solutions to homelessness.

Covey, BMAC's Community Services Division Director, was among presenters at the Aug. 19 National Transitional Jobs Network Forum in Chicago.

Twenty practitioners from 14 states participated in NTJN's Working to End Homelessness Initiative, which seeks to identify and advance employment best practices and a federal workforce policy agenda that accounts for the employment needs of people experiencing homelessness. Covey and the others shared their practices and challenges in employment models such as Transitional Jobs, supported employment, job-readiness training, and social enterprise.
