PROSSER - Wa-Hi's Abby Crowley led the Blue Devil girls swim team at the Eastern Washington Jamboree here Saturday.
New Wa-Hi coach Katharine Curles said the meet "was a non-score meet, just a preview for the season and it was great!"
Crowley won the 100-yard backstroke at the meet.
"Fourteen schools were represented, and we had one of the biggest teams there," Curles said. "The girls swam amazingly well - everyone had at least one personal record and most people had season PRs for each of their three races.
"The thing that I'm most proud of for the meet is the willingness of the girls to try new things," she said. "Many of them took on strokes and events that are outside their normal routine and they did a great job with them. The girls supported each other, taught each other, and cheered for each other whenever they weren't in the water competing.
"This meet was a look to where this program is going," Curles said. "We are growing and learning and improving while, at the same time, maintaining the close team bond and atmosphere that has defined the Wa-Hi swim teams for the past many years. I am thrilled by the outlook for this season and upcoming years."
Wa-Hi next hosts Kamiakin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Whitman College's Harvey Pool.
