THE FOLLOWING IS FROM A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE WALLA WALLA POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Officers responding to a "man with gun" call this morning arrested a Benton City man after he pointed a gun at one of the officers.

The call came in to 911 at 5:35 a.m. of a subject waving a gun around after driving a motor home recklessly in the 100 block of Bryant Avenue. One officer was confronted by the suspect while searching around the driveway where the motor home was parked. As the officer was checking around vehicles in the driveway, the suspect was observed crouched near the garage, pointing the pistol at one of the officers. The suspect, later identified as Paul Andreson, 63, from Benton City, was taken into custody after officers were able to talk him into placing the firearm on the ground. The gun was a loaded and cocked .45 caliber revolver. Andresen appeared to be hallucinating, claiming there were snipers on his motor home trying to kill him.

Andreson was lodged at the Walla Walla County Jail on one count of Assault 1st degree.

Investigation to continue.
