WALLA WALLA -- A Lewiston man remained hospitalized this morning after a Wednesday afternoon crash on State Route 124 west of Waitsburg.

Two vehicles collided on the highway as one driver entered the high-speed roadway from Lower Waitsburg Road, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.

Officials say Crystalyn D. Whiteaker, 33, of Waitsburg attempted to make a left-hand turn onto the highway from Lower Waitsburg Road. Her 2001 Chevrolet Suburban entered the pathway of the eastbound 1998 Ford Ranger driven by Patrick A. Dixon, 50, officals said.

Both drivers were transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center, where Whiteaker was treated and released, a nursing supervisor said. Dixon was listed in satisfactory condition this morning. According to the state patrol report, both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
