C. Neil Wallace of Milton-Freewater passed away Sept. 12, 2011, at the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, at the age of 58 years. Memorial services will be Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the Walla Walla University Church in College Place with Pastors Gordon
Mattison, Mark Etchell and Ole Olesen officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jubilee Youth Ranch or the Christian Aid Center through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, OR 97862.
Neil was born Dec. 23, 1952, in McMinnville, Ore., the son of Fred and Beverly Winslow Wallace. He grew up in Coos Bay and Salem, Ore., and graduated from Walla Walla College with a bachelor's degree in social work, with a minor in religion, and later received a certification from the Lake Union Soul Winning Institute in Chicago. He dedicated his life to serving others, working at Elzora Retirement
Center, Blue Mountain Action Council, Christian Aid Center and Jubilee Youth Ranch. For over 25 years he enjoyed preaching and singing at numerous local churches. Neil was well known for his sense of humor and smile, with a voice and personality reminiscent of his time as a radio and TV announcer (KGTS, BMTV). He married Cindee Bailey in Ojai, Calif. This "Gentle Giant" had the ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved.
He is survived by his wife, Cindee Bailey; two sons, Christian and Carsten; father, Fred; three brothers, Frederick, Doyle and Darren; sister, Melody; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family ... and his dog "Bear."
