WALLA WALLA -- A driver of a sport utility vehicle who allegedly was drunk and struck two riders on a motorcycle in College Place last weekend has been formally charged with two counts of vehicular assault.

The charges against Cally Ann Schneider, 58, were filed Monday afternoon in Walla Walla County Superior Court.

Schneider, of 204 S.E. Fourth St. in College Place, is accused of driving under the influence, recklessly or with disregard for the safety of others when the wreck occurred at South College Avenue and Sunny Drive about 3:55 p.m. on Sunday.

A police officer who arrived at the scene saw the SUV had struck the motorcycle and gone over the top of it, according to a police report filed in court.

A female witness reportedly said she saw the SUV veer into the oncoming lane of travel and, afterward, saw two riders of the motorcycle rolling on the street.

The riders, Alan J. Parker and Sanjuana Y. Page, suffered various injuries. They were taken by ambulance to Providence St. Mary Medical Center where they were listed in satisfactory condition Monday.

Parker still was satisfactory this morning. Page's name was not on the hospital's roster.

After the crash, the officer reportedly smelled a strong odor of alcohol emanating from Schneider. She submitted to a portable breath analysis, which allegedly resulted in a reading of .209 -- more than twice the legal limit in Washington state.

Schneider was booked into the County Jail, with bail later set at $15,000.
