WALLA WALLA -- A curious monkey will be the featured guest of a free literacy event at the Walla Walla Public Library Saturday.
The fourth-annual Early Learning Fair will be from 10 a.m.-noon at the city's library, 238 E. Alder St.
The theme for this year's event is "Curious George," the classic children's stories created by H.A. and Margret Rey. Curious George is expected to make an appearance at the event.
Families with young children are encouraged to attend. Activities will include crafts, games, face-painting, literacy-geared activities for babies and toddlers, and other resources on early learning and literacy.
Snacks will be provided, and a chance for children to get their picture taken with Curious George. Every child will go home with a free book. The fair is also a good time for children or families to get a library card.
The literacy event is coordinated in part by the Walla Walla Valley Early Learning Coalition, with support from the Sherwood Trust and working with the Walla Walla Public Library.
