PALOUSE - Pomeroy suffered its first volleyball loss of the season, a 25-16, 11-25, 25-18, 25-23 Southeast 1B defeat to Garfield-Palouse here Tuesday.
Delaney Monahan recorded 11 blocks and seven kills in the Pirates' loss.
McKenzie Uto had six digs and Haylee Koller 15 assists for Pomeroy.
"We weren't able to match their intensity in the first set," Pirates coach Bruce Crossfield said. "We figured some things out halfway through (the first set), and had them figured out in the second. But the third and fourth were back and forth.
"They made more plays than we did," he said. "We missed too many serves.
"It's still an early season match, and obviously, we have some things to keep working on."
Pomeroy, now 2-1 overall and in league, hosts Tekoa-Oakesdale at 6 .m. Thursday.
