BAKER - Mac-Hi's volleyball team lost to Baker Tuesday night, falling to the Bulldogs in three sets, 25-17, 25-15 and 25-13.
Coach Kayla Rodighiero said she felt her team tried hard, but just could not pull together.
"Each girl played hard, but each girl didn't play together as a whole like we should have," Rodighiero said. "It's hard to explain, the girls and I don't even have words for it."
Leading the way from the service stripe for the Pioneers was senior Jolene Brannon, going 12-for-12 on the night, along with 12 digs.
Also sharp from the backcourt was junior Meghan Reed. She was also perfect serving, hitting 11-of-11 serves across the net and scoring one ace.
Junior Cheyenne Kessler tied Brannon for digs with 12.
Avery Wells and Haley Freske led the front court with four and two kills, respectively.
Although Mac-Hi struggled, the games were not completely one-sided.
"We had some phenomenal rallies tonight," Rodighiero said. "There were some rallies where it just went back and forth, they (the players) really battled. They feel, and I feel, that we could have had a better match."
The Pioneers look to get back to their winning ways when they head to Waitsburg-Prescott tonight at 7 p.m.
"It (the match) was pretty tough," Rodighiero said. "Our intensity just wasn't where it needed to be."
