Walla Walla Symphony season to fete conductor's silver anniversary

The Walla Walla Symphony's first Symphony Series concert starts a year-long celebration of Maestro Yaacov Bergman's 25th season with the Symphony.

The first concert, "Brahms Festival," is 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at Cordiner Hall, 46 S. Park St. A half-hour "Inside Music" free pre-concert talk begins at 6:30 p.m. at Whitman College's Reid Campus Center Ballroom.

"Brahms Festival" features an all-Brahms program including Brahms' "Symphony No. 2 in D Major," "Academic Festival Overture" and world-renowned violinist Haroutune Bedelian performing Brahms' "Violin Concerto in D Major."

Season tickets for the Symphony series are on sale now, and include five concerts: "Brahms Festival" on Oct. 11, "Autumn Fanfare" on Nov. 1, "Messiah" on Dec. 11, "Valentine" on Feb. 14, 2012, and "Spring Celebration" on April 24, 2012. Tickets are also available at the door.
