RICHLAND - A short-handed Walla Walla Valley Academy squad traveled to Liberty Christian Thursday night and came home with a five-set Southeast 2B League victory.

The Knights earned the win 25-23, 25-11, 17-25, 20-25 and 15-9.

"We had all our seniors gone on a trip," WWVA coach Scott Schafer said. "We had four kids - three sophomores and a junior - and we grabbed some JV (junior varsity) kids. The idea was to go in and make a game of it. They played really well."

Amy Arnzen was 25-for-29 serving with nine aces, and also came up with 10 digs for the Knights.

Caroline Larson blocked four Patriots shots, Rylee Sutton recorded nine assists, and Hannah Woolever had five kills.

"Our sophomores - Rylee, Amy and Hannah - are going to be a force to reckon with in a year or two," Schafer said. "I think we could have closed it out even quicker (than five sets). It was a good win."

The Knights, now 2-3 in SE2B play, next host DeSales next Thursday.
