A fundraiser next month for the Frenchtown Historic Site promises a cultural experience with food, dancing and merriment.
Members of the Frencthown Historical Foundation and local tribes will speak at the Frencthown Rendezvous, which also includes a salmon feast, music, dancing, displays and a raffle.
The event takes place Oct. 8 at Frenchtown Hall in Lowden, about 10 miles west of Walla Walla. The celebration kicks off at 4 p.m. in an effort to support the Frenchtown site of the 1855 Battle of Walla Walla and the St. Rose Mission and Cemetery established in 1876 on the grounds of the battlefield. Funds raised are intended to preserve and enhance the historic asset.
A requested donation for tickets is $25 each. Tickets are available at the Destination Walla Walla window at 26 E. Main St. or from members of the Frenchtown Historical Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and interpreting the Frenchtown site.
Participants are invited to bring genealogical information relating to Frenchtown.
For tickets, call 385-1500 or 541-276-3601; email firstname.lastname@example.org ; or go to frenchtownpartners.org .
