Mac-Hi cross country finishes third at Hell's Gate Invite

LEWISTON - Mac-Hi's boys varsity cross country team finished third at the Lewiston Invitational at Hells Gate State Park Friday.

"We had a great day," Pioneers coach John Milleson said. "The temperature was unbearably hot - 95 degrees. The temperature took its toll on all the kids, but we did well."

Eleven teams were on hand for the 5,000-meter race.

Mac-Hi's Lucas Simpson finished fourth in 18:25.16. Jesus Saldana was seventh in 18:56.11, Andrew Kain 16th in 20:03.36, and Juan Diaz 21st in 20:41.68, Abraham Garcia 27th in 21:43.99, Ethan Taylor 30th in 22:13.25 and Miguel Medina 37th in 23:03.66.

Paul Ryan from Logos High in Moscow, Idaho, won the race in 16:51.38.

On the girls side, Mac-Hi's Kristi Childers finished 13th in 25:48.99.

"It was a good race for her," Milleson said.

The Pioneers head to Enterprise, Ore., Friday.
